Grand Reopening Leatherhead Museum

Leatherhead Museum opens for the 2024 season. New exhibitis include 'Young Mr. Turner' and new pictures in the Gallery. Open Thursday - Sunday with some variations. See museum website for changes.

I will be delivering the History Society May Lecture - 'Young Mr Turner', exploring the visits of JMW Turner to Surrey when still a teenagers, and how his sketching and painting techniques developed.

Surrey Artist's Open Studios 2023

Once again, Cathy will be joined by fellow artists Tania Busschau and Imogen Hartridge for 3 weekends at THE STUDIO, Leatherhead. Original artwork, drawings, paintings, prints, cards, gifts, textiles and gifts. Works in progress and demonstrations.

Exploring the evidence that Leatherhead was the inspiration for Jane Austen's novel, EMMA.

The Summer Exhibition

Stuart Stanley Theatre Design Retrospective

Leatherhead Museum launches the first of a series of exhibitions and events to celebrate the heyday of the Thorndike Theatre, Leatherhead's landmark cultural hub, and the people who worked there.

Stuart Stanley, known more recently as an award-winning landscape artist, was Head of Design at the Thorndike Theatre between 1974 and 1986. This small exhibit features his set designs, models, costumes and photographs from the production archives, in collaboration with the archivist at The Leatherhead Theatre.

Half or full day seminar, or 90 minute talk for BA and MA illustration/graphic design students, featuring the story of  the BBC film,'The President's Mother', from the discovery of photographic archive, through the creation of the graphic novella, to the film's premiere. THE STUDIO (no. 15 on the map) will be open for Festive Fun over two craft-filled weekends. Pop in for pasta machine printmaking, drypoint etching demos, rubber stamping, make-your-own cards and decorations, craft kit boxes, FREE have-a-go print activities, original artworks for sale, plus gifts, cards and lots more.
